Individual Therapy

Do you wish you were happier more of the time? Are you preoccupied with thoughts you wish you could get rid of? Are you faced with a decision? Are you unhappy with how your life is going? Do you need better ways to manage stress? Do you find yourself engaging in self-defeating thoughts? Is your behavior sabotaging your chances for success? Is there something from your past you wish you could resolve? We provide individual psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and adults. One-on-one psychotherapy is tailored to meet the needs of the client’s age and specific concerns. Individual therapy is a powerful intervention for anyone experiencing depression, anxiety, loss, or difficulty adjusting to transition and change.

The goal is to enhance the individual’s ability to manage one’s feelings and behaviors, improve coping skills and decision-making, help clients achieve personal goals, realize their potential and provide them with strategies for overcoming future challenges and providing overall increased life satisfaction.

The nature and approach encountered individual therapy vary greatly depending on the stage of life of the client and the particular concerns that are expressed.

Individual therapy with children utilizes play and other techniques to foster expression of feelings, and work through concerns in a developmentally appropriate way. Combined with a strong family supportive component, individual therapy with children can prepare children and their families to cope with obstacles to ensure continued growth and development.

With adolescents, individual therapy may be employed to address the developmental difficulties encountered during this life stage that include issues related to self-esteem, school performance and behavior and family and peer interactions.

For adults, individual therapy may be designed to address a particular difficulty one may be experiencing, or in some cases, may be designed to assist those wishing to develop a better understanding of past issues and how those experiences may be related to current feelings and behavior.
